Exploring the creative side of powder coating

Powder coated stainless bird bowl with Gloss White base, Flat Clear, and Pearl Pink drip edge; side profile against clear blue sky

A parakeet bowl, powder coated in 2020

Back in October 2020, I coated a stainless steel bird bowl for our parakeets. The process started with a base of Gloss White, Flat Clear, and finished with Pearl Pink for the drip edge. It was a small experiment in bringing color and personality into something as ordinary as a pet bowl.

The birds have since passed, and I’m not sure if the bowl is still around. But for a time, it was used daily and served as a quiet reminder that even the smallest things can be turned into functional art.

Collector’s Note
This wasn’t a commission or showcase piece, it was made for our own birds. Looking back five years later, it holds more meaning than I expected.
